日前,致力于实现多样化连接性系统的导体厂商SMSC发表的高速USB 2.0连接方案─USB3803 USB 2.0便携式集线器。这是业界专为便携式设备而设计的高速USB便携式集线器，由于具备引脚少和小尺寸特性，可为电池供电的便携式应用设备提供的USB连接性解决方案。
随着便携式设备整合的功能不断增多，以及连接性架构日趋复杂，必需有一个以上的USB端口来管理内部和外部周边设备的通信。SMSC的低功耗USB3803 USB 2.0集线器控制器可提供三个下行(downstream)端口，是专门针对需要一个以上USB端口的便携式嵌入式应用所设计的。USB3803能轻松与上行(upstream)端口连接，作为一个全速或全速/高速USB集线器，并可在所有启用的下行端口上支持低速、全速和高速(若作为高速集线器工作)下行设备。此控制器引脚数较少，故对于重视功耗、小封装尺寸、更低BOM成本和电池充电器(BC)检测功能等设计需求的便携式、电池供电嵌入式系统来说，是非常理想的选择。
SMSC副总裁兼消费电子产品总Eric Kawamoto表示：“USB3803是业界专为智能手机、平板电脑和电子书阅读器等便携式消费电子产品而设计的USB 2.0集线器控制器。USB3803的低功耗和超小占位面积等设计特性，能满足便携式产品设计人员的要求，此外它还能提供已经数代SMSC USB 2.0集线器控制器产品所验证过的稳健的USB性能。”
USB3803整合了的USB-IF电池充电1.2规范，以及SMSC的RapidCharge Anywhere功能，可大幅缩短电池充电所需时间，同时，其灵活的电源稳压器有利于简化电池供电设备的设计。
USB3803样品现已开始供应。
